Thank you Wichita - Local
School Bond Passes !!
What does this mean for Peterson?
Peterson
is slated to receive a
new addition that will include four general classrooms and
restrooms and a new multipurpose room designed as a FEMA
shelter. Peterson also will receive general building upgrades
including replacement of windows and doors, and improvement of
the heating and air conditioning systems, technology,
lighting/electrical, and storage space.
For homeowners, the bond issue would
add $42.55 in taxes per year on a $100,000 home or $3.55 per
month. An investment of less than $1 per week will result in a
$370 million pay out to support Wichita children.
Under Kansas law, Wichita
taxpayers contribute tax dollars each year to help support
school districts throughout the state that have passed bond
issues. This bond issue plan will allow
Wichitans to benefit from this law because the
state will pay 25 percent of the total cost of the bond issue —
$92.5 million plus corresponding interest.
