Welcome to Peterson Elementary School
Home of the Tigers
Little Red
Welcome to Peterson, where Peterson Tigers show their PRIDE each day. We are an elementary school on the west side of Wichita with a proud history and strong tradition in academic excellence and connection with the community. Peterson students work to demonstrate honorable character traits each day by demonstrating “Personal Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, and Doing our best to achieve Excellence.” This phrase represents our guidelines for success and is where we get our PRIDE acronym.

To the left is "Little Red," the original Peterson school.

Peterson PRIDE Service Project
Save your pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters or even dollars! The Peterson PRIDE committee is collecting money and items to benefit the Kansas Humane Society. Items needed include cat/dog toys, cleaning supplies ( paper towels, Lysol, dish soap, etc.) and gently used large and medium sized towels. We will be collecting items from February 23 through March 6. Thank you for helping us show the community that Peterson kids CARE!
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
An Evening with Dr. Seuss!
Join the staff of Peterson Elementary as we celebrate the birthday of one of the most iconic authors of all time, Dr. Seuss. We will be having a Dr. Seuss Math and Literacy Night on Tuesday, March 3 from 5:30-7:00 pm.  This event is for Peterson students and their parents. Please come and enjoy this school-wide birthday party with cookies, math games, reading in Seussville, an appearance by the Cat in the Hat and so much more! Each student who attends will get a free book. You may wear a hat to school that day or come dressed as a Dr. Seuss character. We hope to see everyone there!
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming March 2-6

Please join us at the Scholastic Book Fair in the Peterson Library from March 2-March 6. Come find out what's new in children's literature and help support our school. Proceeds from the book fair will go towards materials and events that support Peterson students. You may also order online from Feb. 25-March 10. Just click here. We are also collecting money for "All for Books," which will help us donate books to Rainbows United. Students may bring any amount of money to "vote" for books that they would like to have in our library. Students can bring money to their library class or to the book fair when they visit. Students can vote as many times as they like and with any amount of money. The book fair will be open from 8:30-5:30 all week.
