Welcome to Peterson Elementary School
Home of the Tigers
Little Red
Welcome to Peterson, where Peterson Tigers show their PRIDE each day. We are an elementary school on the west side of Wichita with a proud history and strong tradition in academic excellence and connection with the community. Peterson students work to demonstrate honorable character traits each day by demonstrating “Personal Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, and Doing our best to achieve Excellence.” This phrase represents our guidelines for success and is where we get our PRIDE acronym.

To the left is "Little Red," the original Peterson school.

Hour of Code
The Hour of Code is coming!

“The 'Hour of Code™' is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week[csedweek.org] and Code.org[code.org] to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.”

The Hour of Code, is an event that our school is participating in, along with 125,000 schools across the country. From Dec. 7-13 all schools that signed up to host an event, including Peterson, will encourage students to learn computer science skills and write computer code by going through a series of fun tutorials designed to get kids interested in computer science.
All students, even Pre-K, will write computer code during library class.
Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path. See more stats on https://hourofcode.com/us
